What had you accomplished when you were ten? Facebook is ten years old on 4th February 2014, here we have ten facts about the biggest social network in the world.
Let's just get straight into it:
Mark Zuckerberg is still only in his twenties
Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook while he was a student in Harvard University. He's now worth $29.7USD billion, and at twenty nine - that works out as a billion for every year of his life.
Facebook was originally called Facemash
When Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in Harvard, he called it Facemash, however by February 2004, it had been renamed Facebook.
Facebook has 1.2 billion users
Which means one in five people in the world have a Facebook account, which is staggering when you consider that only 2.4 billion people have access to the internet worldwide. So that means that half of the people in the world with access to the internet have a Facebook account. Wow.
Facebook is blue because of Mark Zuckerberg's colour blindness
Mark Zuckerberg is red-green colour blind, and the colour he sees the best is blue - which is why Facebook is all about the blue!
Mark Zuckerberg wore a tie every day for a year in 2009
Mark is famous for his grey t-shirt 'uniform' ("my drawer is about 20 of these grey T-shirts"), but, in 2008, when the global recession hit, Mark wanted to show Facebook was a serious company. He wore a tie every day that year to show he was serious.

Facebook launched a new app this week called Paper

Facebook users login a lot
Out of the 1.2 billion users, 787 million users login every day to Facebook.
Facebook made $7.87USD billion in revenue in 2013
Per user, that works out as $6.55USD.
China block Facebook
China blocked Facebook back in 2009 - but still, 87 million users manage to get through the firewall.
